SUB-SAHARAN AFRICAN LEARNING NETWORK

The Sub-Saharan African Learning Network (SSALN), will promote continuing education and learning, and knowledge flows across Sub-Saharan African countries through wider use of technologies. The establishment of the SSALN will facilitate continuing education and knowledge dissemination, and will enhance the collaboration between the AIST regional institutes and other academic institutions, private industry, and public policymakers.

SSALN will:

  • Support the objectives of AIST through the diffusion and assimilation of model technologies and the integration between each regional AIST and institutions within the region.
  • Strengthen the infrastructure for continuing education and reduce the costs of, and improve access to, education and knowledge.
  • Enhance broad-based knowledge creation, dissemination and flows across Sub-Saharan African countries to build and strengthen human resources capacities, through continuing education and the African Knowledge Forum.

The SSALN is expected to be operational by 2007.
